Rabbit Gestation Calculator
Select the date your rabbit was bred to calculate the expected kindling (birth) date.
Rabbits have one of the shortest gestation periods among mammals — typically around 28 to 33 days, with 31 days being the average.
Our Rabbit Gestation Calculator provides a quick and easy way to estimate your doe’s (female rabbit's) kindling date based on the breeding date.
📌 What is Kindling?
Kindling is the term used for rabbit birth. It usually occurs quickly and quietly, often in the early morning or at night. Being prepared in advance is crucial to ensure the safety of both the mother and the kits (baby rabbits).
🐰 Signs of Rabbit Pregnancy
- Increased appetite and nesting behavior
- Pulling fur to line a nest (usually a day or two before kindling)
- Mild mood changes – may become more territorial
- Visible abdominal bulge after 2+ weeks (in some does)

🏠 Preparing for Kindling
About 27 days after breeding, place a clean, safe nest box in her enclosure filled with hay or soft straw. Most does will start pulling their fur and preparing the nest 1–2 days before birth. Make sure her environment is quiet and free from stress.
🧠 Pro Tip:
Rabbits can sometimes have false pregnancies. If you're unsure whether the breeding was successful, consult a vet or palpate carefully around day 10–14.
